Owen is playing his 7th season of indoor soccer. He loves and is excited to go every week! He's really getting the concept of soccer (for the most part), passing the ball and really learning more foot work. Most of all he runs around and gets all his 5 year old energy all out on the field! Exhausted Owen = early bedtime= happy mommy :)

Spring weather in January

I'm loving not having to bundle up the kids in huge bulky jackets and having to lug around all the extra clothing and layers. With all of this unusually warm weather we are taking full advantage of being outdoors. But I do love those erie cold snow days, sipping hot cocoa and anxiously waiting to play in the snow. I am still secretly wishing for some snow days this season maybe in February or even March? :)

Luckily, Granddad and Grandma have a mini "Camp Hemlock" behind their house. Rope swing, balance beams and the creek. So the kids ran around the woods, "close down" the fort for the winter and watched Grandad till the garden with the tractor. It's all set up for Spring gardening and summer tomatoes!

We celebrated Owen's 5th birthday this past weekend. Although we've had a 5 year old for about a week and a half prior to his party, he had been waiting for his "real birthday" to come. We had awesome weather for jumping on the moon bounce, making smores and Autobot tattooing! :) He was SO excited and had a very special day with lots of friends and family.

We all know how much Owens LOVES his transformers and there is no doubt it was going to be a Transformer themed party this year! I had a lot of fun trying to make it as Transformer-E as possible. Since he had been on Christmas/winter break for two weeks he was happy to help me plan and run errands for his party. We made "energon" home made glow in the dark slime, which he proudly handed out to all his friends (Thanks pinterest). And most importantly he had a slice of his actual birthday cake for the first time with no outbreaks!!! We've slowly introduced milk and eggs back into his diet and so far we've had no breakouts. WAHOOO!

I still cannot believe we have a 5 year old!!! Yes, I did shed some tears when I held him the morning of his birthday. It made me sad that he's really becoming a big boy; our hugs and kisses are getting shorter because I'm getting in the way of his hand held game on 3DS (fancy game boy). He's getting way to smart and knowing words like "In love", or telling me that me and Daddy need to go on a date. He's a sweet, smart, thoughtful little boy and I couldn't have asked for a more loving older brother for Chloe.

I'm gonna have to wash my awful blogging hands from this past year. I tried (not really) to catch up but sorry to say.. it's just not gonna happen. This year has gone by so fast. We have had a fun filled ride back to being a family of four. We are blessed and grateful for all the blessings we have received but most importantly thankful for our good health. We are ready to put this year behind us and welcoming 2012 with bells on!!!! We hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and wishing everyone a Happy New Year!

Owen started his first day of Pre-K this week. Since his 5th birthday is later in the year he wont be able to start Kindergarten til next year. As much as I want him to be a "big kid" I don't mind having another year of him as my little baby boy!

He came home anxious to tell me about his day, new friends and teachers. He also told me and little sister that he "missed us SO much!"

Where did the time go? I cant believe it's time for sweet Chloes first birthday. She had an Abby Cadabby themed birthday party that took A LOT of work and planning to do months in advance. Ok, maybe it was really a birthday party for MOM! :) Chloe was dressed in full Abby gear; tutu (I made), wand and wings. It was a successful party and all the hard work with crafting sleepless-late nights was well worth it.

HE'S HOMEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE! We could not be more excited for this day to come. All the sleepless nights and long days are over. It has been a long year and we'll be spending the next couple of weeks reconnecting. This experience has changed us in so many ways, but mostly humbled to have experienced it with the strongest group of women and families of the 299th. We are so blessed to have our hero returned to us safely and ready to move forward to a new year as a family of four. I am so proud of you Hubby, you are truly our hero!

LAKE ANNA WITH THE CRAWFORD LADIES!
I was ecstatic when I found out that my good friend Ashley is expecting their 2nd baby this fall. But more excited that she is also becoming a stay at home mom!! She invited us to get away at her mom's house for a few days which happens to be at Lake Anna :) It wasn't toasty enough to do all the water activities but there's no stopping little fish Owen from jumping in the lake. It was a relaxing few days with the kids while we anxiously waited to hear from Kris', landing back on U.S. soil. Thank you Karen for being such a wonderful host. Your dream house is beautiful!!!

You know summer is kicking off when the first festival hits the town. We met up with the Greenhaws at the Herndon festival Saturday morning. May felt like it lasted FOREVER mainly because we knew we were in the home stretch from the deployment and only weeks away from seeing Kris again. So I tried to keep us occupied with end of the school year activities, enjoying the outdoors and beautiful weather.

White House Easter Roll

We got lucky this year and got our first tickets to the White House Easter Roll. Thanks to Kris' unit for pulling some strings to get us the tickets :) It was definitely an experience to remember and one I will be thinking twice about doing again.

We started our day at the Vienna metro to void all the city mayhem; Owen got to ride the metro for the first time. He sat through the whole thing and loved every moment of it. Chloe was also a real trooper, she sat her stroller without a fuss. When we got to our stop we walked a few blocks thru the city to get to the white house and started a 2 hour long process to the event.

Our ticket was for the late morning/lunch activities, thank goodness I packed a small lunch and snack for the kids because I had no idea that was going to be their lunch of the day. They had a ton of free water and sports drinks but NO FOOD. Once we got through the gate Owen got to meet a ton of his favorite characters, Mr, Potato Head, Clifford, Cat in the Hat, etc. We also met a couple other families in Kris' unit that were also there for the event, which I was thankful for so Owen had a buddy Trevor to enjoy all the fun activites there. It was all-in-all a fun filled day Owen had a blast and mom walked out with a sunburn!

I love when the Barnium and Bailey's come to town because that means Spring is in full swing and summer is just around the corner. I took the kids to see the circus with their cousins Kayla and Janelle this week. They got to see the pre-show and sat through the whole show in amazement! Owen was excited to start spring soccer this year. He has been asking to play and has grown into our little competitor on the field. On mornings we have soccer practice he says.. "Mom- I will run really fast and win so you can be proud of me, OK?!" We're also getting ready for the summer and started taking swim lessons.

I cannot explain to him how much I am SO proud of him. Not only for trying his best at practice but for being such a good big brother and a brave little boy these tough 9 months. He has no problem sharing toys with his sister or watching her while Mom cooks dinner and cant keep her eyes on little sister. He always makes sure sissy is happy and is constantly willing to help Mommy with chores. Wether he knows he's getting a treat for his good deeds or to make Mommy's heart smile. He is a constant ball of pure joy and love in my heart. I cant imagine our life without my funny, smart, loving little man.

So now all I ask is for time to freeze. He is growing up way to fast and I cannot stand him veering away from my cuddles and kisses.

9 Months!

Chloe had her 9 month check up last Thursday and she now weighs 17lbs 5 oz and 28 1/4 inches long. A few days before her check up she started crawling AND her first tooth FINALLY peak out! She went from a timid crawler to a crazy all over the place crawler over night. She now crawls with her butt in the air because she's actually trying to crawl and walk at the same time. Brother is doing a great job helping mommy try to keep her in one area and taking everything away from her mouth. She loves sitting in her high chair and feed herself like a big girl. We are still battling parting with each other, mostly on her part. She hysterically cries/chokes and pretty much freaks everyone else around her. I hope she gets through separation anxiety fast!!!!! I love you Chloebear but I do NOT love your crankiness and clingy behavoir. Thank goodness Daddy will be home SOON!

Denim Diapers? You've got to be kidding me! A gimmick? It certainly is. They make newborn skinny jeans look totally normal. But like your normal denim fad or trend, it will come and go. We've got nothing to lose so we're giving these suckers a go! :) After all, this is our last batch of disposable diapers...

Yup, that's right we're going Hybrid and giving it a shot. I've started gathering some cloth diapers I like. All in hopes of saving between $1600-$2300 on disposable diapers by the time she's potty trained; but mainly to potty traine her sooner than later. Will this idea stick to my husband who hasn't changed a diaper in almost 2 years and who gags at a little spit up? I'll let you know!

Our little princess is 7 months old and keeping mommy on her toes. She's trying to keep up with big brother and his tricks but finds herself a little stuck in the same spot :) She hates being on her belly for more than 2 minutes- although, she does pull herself up from a propped up position. She scoots around on her back by doing a funky body wave and is most happy when she's sitting in the middle of toys or jumping in her exersaucer.

Chlobear may not be mobile but she is a talker for sure. She started "talking" this month and starting to be vocal each day. Her first word was banana- even though it was more like "Nana"; And I'm not really sure how her second word happened but it was-"Dada". I was happy to capture it on video to show Daddy a nice little Valentines Day surprise but I was mostly happy to show daddy how big she really has gotten. I love waking up every morning listening to her blabbering a new word on the monitor. Today's word was "Mama"!!!!!! :)

Another milestone for her this month is trying solid foods. She's a good eater so I'm hoping she stays that way and crossing my fingers she doesn't develop any allergies. She started eating finger foods and loves that mommy actually lets her nawh/slobber on something edible. She discovered Ritz crackers this week and YOGURT!!!! I hadn't thought about introducing her to dairy so soon until her pediatrician mentioned it at our last visit. I have to remind myself not to push her so fast just because big brother was so deprived from all the good stuff. It's like I'm trying new foods along with her :)

It's hard to believe she is only 4 months away from being a whole year old.. YIKES!! It's bitter sweet because this only means Daddy's welcome home is just around the corner but my little princess is soon to be a toddler. I'm enjoying every minute of her as a baby and love seeing the difference between her and big brother. Owen makes me so proud- he has become so independent, caring and smart beyond his years. I am so blessed to have two beautiful easy-going little minions, they make everyday that daddy's gone a breeze. They are my strength and fill my heart with joy and so much more than I can imagine. Mommy loves you both SO SO much!

CHRISTBIRTHMASDAY!

You guys might think I've given up on this blog so I figure I should really catch up. We have been going none stop the last couple of weeks (more like month) and now slowly but surely trying to get back into the 'norm'. Christmas this year was by far the best! Santa was beyond good to us this year, he gave us the best present we could ever ask for...our daddy for Christmas. Hubby got to come home for his R&R and we spent our first Christmas together as a family of four. The two weeks we got to spend with Kris was ridiculously eventful- of course. Lots of family events, Owen's 4th birthday, Chloe's Baptism, and ringing in our 6th NYE together. Kris even got to spend a few extra days due to miss communication and snow storm!

I still cannot believe my little man is 4 years old. Yes, I'm cheesy WHERE HAS THE TIME GONE?! My little butterball continues to surprise me everyday; He has really grown into a sweet, smart, caring big brother, independent, loving boy. It's definitely hard to see him grown up so fast especially the past 6 months while Daddy's been gone. He is the man of the house and continues to fulfill his duties. He loves to help give sister a bath, makes her laugh, kisses and loves on her every day. He also likes helping me put groceries away, cleans up his mess (for the most part), sometimes even tries to do laundry. What more could I ask for in a little 4 year old?

The morning of his birthday the poor little boy woke up with a sty in his left eye. Of course- it wouldn't be his birthday if we didn't take a quick trip to his doctors office or pick up some kind of medication- Sad to say but true. Since his birthday landed on a Monday this year we took him to ChuckECheese and decided to splurge on a fun birthday party after the holidays. We invited all his school friends to PumpItUp and we are so thankful for all those who came to make it such a special day for him. He has spent the last 4 weeks opening presents none stop and his room is overloaded with LOTS of new toys. He has been spoiled but is well deserved- I love you to pieces little man, you are my angel!!

YUP! I have been a terrible blogger. We just skipped over November and most of December, where has the time gone?? The past months consisted of Owens Thanksgiving luncheon at school, Owens first plane ride and trip to the farm, Thanksgiving, Chloe's first visit with Santa, Christmas parties galore, Bull Run light show, Elf on the shelf, Owens first Christmas pageant, Chloe's first snow day, and now preparing for Santa Clause's arrival! We have had an exciting 2010 and I cannot believe the year is coming to an end. We have a very exciting next couple of weeks ahead of us like a certain someones 4th birthday, baptism and lots of family coming to town. Trick or Treat

Halloween came and we had a blast! Owen was in full trick or treating mode from the moment he woke up that morning. He was so excited and this year was the first year I can say he was actually trick or treat. Mommy didn't have to hold his bag, open doors or remind him to say "Trick or Treat.. THANK YOU."

We went trick or treating with the Greenhaw girls in Aunt Darlene's neighborhood. Natalie, Alicia and Owen have gone Trick or Treating together almost every year. They had a good haul and couldn't carry all the candy home in their bags. Now were getting in gear for Thanksgiving festivities... geez, time really does fly by when you're having fun! :)

Pumpkin Patch

Another good reason to love fall is the Pumpkin Patch!!! We took our annual trip to Cox farms last week and enjoyed the beautiful weather with good friends. We invited my best friend Anne and her nephew Girard, and also my friend Teresa and her son Alex. It was their first time going to the farm so the boys were overwhelmed but did a great job keeping up with Owen who ran around like a true Cox Farm veteran.

Owen had his first class field trip today at Ticonderoga farms. We were bummed to leave little Chloe behind but hopefully she'll get to join in the fun next time! It's official Fall is here!! Well it was official a couples weeks ago when my pumpkin spice latte came back on the menu at Starbucks :) Fall is my favorite time of the year as you can see the blog lacking of new postings :) Due to the unseasonably hot weather you will find the kids and I outdoors, soaking up the last bit of the warm sunshine and loving the beautiful fall colors. Owen recently learned about fall/leaves at school so he spends his days shouting out random colors.

Owen is loving school and comes home everyday with exciting stories about his day. I just love that he's making new friends and comes home excited to see his little sister. As soon as he walks in the door, he runs straight to Chloe and gives her lots of kisses. He's very concerned about her day.. what shes did, if she cried a lot and even asks Chloe "Were you a good girl for mommy?" that boys is truly a little man in a 3 year old body.

Chloe is continuing to grow (way to fast) She loves to play, laugh and smiles at everyone that talks to her. I'm so grateful that she is laid back and easy going just like her daddy.

One of Kris' really good friend Kelly got married last weekend. Kris was so bummed he was missing the wedding and missed all his childhood buddies who came up for the weekend. I decided to get a card board cut out of Kris so he can be part of the pictures and not feel like he missed out. Everyone at the wedding had a blast with Kris at dinner, on the balcony and specially on the dance floor! :) It's by far the best hundred bucks I have ever spent. Congrats Kelly and Stephanie we wish you lots of love and happiness!!! We cant wait for the kids to grow up together! :)

Milestones..

The day we brought Chloe home feels like forever ago, she is now 2 months old! I've been anxiously waiting to go to her checkup this month to see how much our little nugget has grown. I wanted to make sure she wasn't starving since Ive switched her to soy formula from our last visit. She weighed 10lbs 5oz. and is now 23 inches long! She was a real trooper that morning for getting 3 shots all in one day; she even laughed and played right after. That afternoon her pain started to set in and we had an hour of crying, ice packs and no movements on the couch! It broke my heart to see her in so much pain but couldn't do anything about it. She is definitely one tough cookie!!

On a regular day our little wiggle worm is very active, loves playing with her brother, and talk, talk, talks! I'm mostly happy to brag about going on our third day of sleeping through the WHOLE night! WAHOO! I know it has only been 8 weeks but I'm madly in love with her and can tell we will be BFFS!... for now ;)

Another exciting part of this week was our little man starting preschool. Yes, I cant believe it either... PRESCHOOL! After going to his orientation and meeting his teachers, I'm SOOO much more excited for him to start learning; Mostly for all the cute little preschool activities.. show and tell, his beautiful art work overloading the fridge, and simply telling me about how his morning was with out mom. The little man was so excited that I didn't have to force him to do any of his bedtime routine. He was happy to brush his teeth, get to bed early, and wait for mom to wake him up the next day.

As most parents do the morning of their child's first day of school is having the paparazzi take pictures from the moment they wake up. Luckily for him mommy was running behind so his pictures weren't taken till we were walking into his school building. The conversation went a little like this..

Mom: Owen, I need to get a picture of you so I can show Daddy.
O: Ugghh, okayyyyy!

That same day Kris and I celebrated our 4 year anniversary. Lately I feel like time is really flying by. I remember like it was yesterday when I was writing letters and sending packages to Kris during his first trip to Iraq. Little did I know I was going to be doing the same thing 5 years later- the only difference is now I have to figure out how I'm gonna carry a package in the post office with a stroller, a little man tugging on my shirt and trying to hold a conversation with the post office lady without getting interrupted over a spilled snack.

God has challenged us, pulled us in many different ways and really has blessed us. I continue to pull through only because he has given me a smart, devoted, laid back, loving, patient, hard working, funny husband. I cant imagine a better right hand man through this roller coaster ride. Our time apart only makes my love for him stronger. I'm looking forward to more years of learning and spending the rest of our lives together but mostly growing old with the one person I know will love me unconditionally; my best friend, the best father to our kids and my rock. You make me the happiest woman in world! Happy Anniversary Babe, I love you!

7 weeks

I know, I know, I've been slacking on blogging and taking picture of the babies. I'm still getting used to the cutest little sweet pea- whom I serve hand and foot all day in exchange for lots of kisses; All while trying to keep spider man from climbing and rummaging through our pantry, making his own lunch and dinner! ;) Actually this is cutting into my time for laundry, cleaning and nap. So lets get to it...

Chloe is 7 weeks old today I can't believe it's going by so fast. She is just the sweetest most lovable little thing! She started smiling and coo'ing back at mommy this week, which I cannot get enough off. She's more alert and awake during the day and is stretching 5-6 hours of sleep at night. Bed time starts about 7-8pm and I'm only getting up once or maybe twice at night. I also decided to stop nursing her 2 days ago and she is now on a total formula diet. I still nurse her at night but pumping in the day time, juggling both kids, chores, and activities took a toll on me. So, YES I'm a quitter and I felt guilty-but I'm sure she'll be fine! I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the baby acne on her face will go away soon and not turn into allergy breakouts like Owens did.

Big brother Owen is doing well at camp and enjoys every minute of it. We are at the last week of camp and 2 weeks until preschool starts!!!! YES, my little man is starting school in a few days. There will definitely be tear shed the morning I drop him off- but I promise I wont embarrass Owen or myself (stay tuned for pictures). I'm really looking forward for my doctors appointment tomorrow. It's my 6 weeks check up with my OB and cannot wait to be released to start working out again. I'm ready to go to the gym and get back in shape! An house of alone time with no crying, whining and feeding? I'm there!!! Wish me luck and hope I don't pass out.

On behalf of Kris- Thank you everyone for all the birthday wishes yesterday. I'm sure he felt the love all the way in the dessert. I will admit I was alittle sad yesterday. Because it was the first birthday we didn't get to spend together in the 5 years we've been with each other. It wouldn't have been too bad if I didn't watch Brian Williams on the nightly news talk about updates on Iraq. It normally doesn't get to me- but it did last night. Partially because I know Kris is on a mission these next couple of days, then knowing he is only an arms length away from all the danger. It makes me sick to my stomach not hearing from him for a couple days. It's just a reminder of how much stronger I need to be. I'm just thankful and lucky to have two adorable chicklings to distract me from it all! I mean how can you not for get about everything when you look at this....

Friday the 13th

So today's the day Friday the 13th, out of all the days they can ship off.. they picked today (just a little superstitious). We've said our goodbyes but today's really the last day I'll be hearing his voice from our side of the world. It's been 5 weeks since we last saw him and we've missed him more and more each day. We've talked on the phone as much as possible, video chatted a hand full of times, and texted back and fourth pictures everyday. Now, we'll be waiting to hear from him through an unknown land line whenever he settles at his new base/home away from home.
I cannot express to you how lucky and grateful I am to have such a wonderful husband. Kris has done everything possible to make sure that me and the kids are taken care of while he's away. I know he thinks and worries about us but I hope he knows even though I sometimes cry and complain to him how things are going that we'll be okay and be strong while he's away. It's now go time and time for him to worry about himself and his soldiers.

We love you babe, stay safe and we'll see you on the flip side real soon :)

3 weeks old!

Woah! time really has flown by little Cece is now 3 weeks old. I was really excited to take her to her first well child visit, I wanted see how much she has grown from her last appointment 2 weeks ago. The little peanut was 7 lbs 14oz (YAY! finally some meat in her bones) and she measured 21 1/4 inches long :) She's grown out of her tinnie-tiny newborn clothes and can fit into 0-3 month old size clothing. Yes, this is all very exciting to me only because shes has a lot of outfits to wear in such a short time. If you think I have a ton of clothes.. you have not seen her closet. She's blessed to have 2 older cousins with very fashionable hand-me-downs. I'm definitely having so much fun with her playing dress up!

Also, her belly button fell off a couple days ago so Owen and I finally got to give Chloe her first bath! I was a little hesitant because I wasn't sure how she was gonna react but she LOVED it! She didn't make a peep and sat throught the whole thing without a fuss. I love having the Johnsons baby soap smell back in the house :)

I'm just doing a little comparison of the O and C. They have so many similarities as a newborn and I'm excited to see the differences and changes in Chloe these next couple of weeks/months. We're adjusting fine to our new routine and definitely miss Kris more everyday. Some days are easier than others but I know we'll get used to it at some point.

As for Kris, he's keeping busy with jam packed days of training, sleep deprivation, and very little communication this past week. I know some of you asked about an address for Kris while he's in state, just make sure anything you send arrives before the end of July.

26th Birthday and Deployment festivities

We've been preparing for Kris' deployment and sadly that day has final arrived. Friday was technically the first day of his 400 days long deployment but since we live so close to the base he got to come home at the end of the day.

Saturday was my birthday and I got to enjoy a mellow day along with my little shadow. Owen had a fever that started Thursday night so I knew he needed to been seen Saturday morning before it got worst. So our first birthday stop was his pediatrician and we waited 2 long hours to get his ear infection antibiotics. We finally got out of the doctors just in time for our lunch date with my closest friend Javen at the cheesecake factory. Owen even surprised mommy and did so well afterwards that mom got to do a little shopping with out the whining and complaining! :) My mom stopped by later that afternoon to drop of birthday goodies. Kris got to end his day early so we could go out to dinner; my in laws and sister in law Kira also go to join us. Overall it was a relaxing and perfect 26th birthday, I got to spend it with the people I love the most.

Sunday was an early day for us because of Kris' Yellow Ribbon Ceremony and it's the army so 6am is totally expected. It's a ceremony the army hosts for families with lots of important information about the deployment, finance, health care etc. I cant say they picked the best facility to hold 200 some people with out air conditioner on a 102 degree day. It wasn't to bad the first half of the day but as the day progressed it was MISERABLE! Didn't they know heat and a VERY pregnant lady does not work!!!

After lunch was the awards ceremony, Kris was called up during the ceremony and recognized for the pre-training they did last month. We were so surprised and so proud of him! Here's a couple pictures of the LONG hot day.

Sunday was a perfect day for some BBQ and dip in the pool to celebrate fathers day and Kris' going away! We were happy so many family members were in town to enjoy this special day and spend quality time with Kris as his deployment approaches. Were lucky to have family and friends who support us through this roller coaster adventure in our life. Thank you everyone who came and appreciate all your well wishes for our family and Kris. Rehoboth Beach

We took off to Rehoboth last week and enjoyed Uncle Phil and Aunt Valerie's brand new beach house. Thank you so much for letting us stay and enjoy your gorgeous new house! The location was a block from the beach and from the main street/board walk. They have the perfect location close to so many cute little boutiques, restaurants and shops. We had a blast walking around and getting ice cream everynight :)

It was a jam packed beach during the day but it was great for Owen to have made so many new friends. The kid is a true water baby; he loved the ocean and loved rolling around in the sand seriously... even using his head as a shovel. It was and a perfect vacation to recharge our batteries for whats ahead of us the next couples of weeks and year. We're looking forward to coming back next year as a family of 4! :) Thanks again Aunt Val and Uncle Phil!!!!! We love you.

I just realized it has been a month since my last post!!! June has been a whirl wind and I'm anxious/excited to know that it almost over, only because I know July 8th is just around the corner (17 days to be exact). It's the date Chloe will be entering the world :) we finally got a date scheduled with my doctor and see the light at the end of the tunnel. Let me back up a couple weeks and catch you up...

We celebrated 3 graduation parties the last couple of weeks.. Kris' cousin Makayla who will be attending University of Maryland next year, My brother Nikki who graduated at UNCW last month and Kris' cousin Jason who will be attending a school in PA next year. My youngest sister will also be graduating high school tomorrow so we pretty much have graduations galore!!!

Kris finally came home after being gone for a month training with the Army. Since he's only home for two weeks were trying to squeeze in a much family time as possible until he has to leave again. I'm excited for him to be home mainly to be able to shower by myself again with out the little man. It has definitely been difficult moving around with my huge belly and keeping up with a 3 year old with full batteries all day everyday. So we've been enjoying the weather and soaking up the sun!

We took Owen to the Fairfax Fair and loved watching our big boy finally get on rides by himself. Luckily our good friends the Perrymans got to join us so Owen had Hannah as a riding buddy! It is such a blast watching them grow up together.. feeding each other popcorn at the fair and Owen being so protective and hugging on her. I know and love to see how he will be such a good big brother to Chloe. We got to enjoy our turkey legs, fireworks, bands and lots of fair food.

Kris' cousin John from Florida stayed with us for a couple days while he was here for a doctors visit. I'm glad the timing worked out right so they got to spend sometime with eachother before Kris leaves. We also celebrated Kris' grand mother Memere's 70th birthday last weekend. Yes, baby Chloe is a lucky girl to be surrounded with people who celebrated her with lots of girlie things and anxiously waiting on her arrival. I'm thankful for my sister in law Kira who organized the baby shower this weekend; my mother in law, mom and sisters who helped put the rest of the party together. Also for the generous friends and family who came and really showered us with lots of love. We are truly blessed to have you all in our life!

We've been working on the baby's room the last couple of weeks because of Kris' hectic schedule. I feel very lucky to have handyman's in my family because otherwise we'd have awful looking paint jobs and wouldn't get things done as easy. My father in law Burt and Kris worked really hard painting the pink stripes in the nursery. It turned out better than what I expected and I'm really happy with the out come. We also kept most of Owens nursery items so we dug those all up and started putting them together. I've also been digging through craiglist religiously the last month for a dresser and happy to have found a really good deal on a brand new white dresser; it even came with a huge mirror! Baby Chloe has been blessed and already started to receive awesome hand-me-downs from her cousins Kayla and Janelle and many generous gifts from other family members. Thank you everyone we are so grateful!!! So here's what it looks like so far :)

This was my first trip to UNCW in North Carolina and was so happy the beach was only 10 minutes from campus. We got a day at the beach and the rest for celebrating the graduate. 2010 National Capitol Re-enlistment Conference

Last week we attended a week long conference in DC for Kris' re-enlistment ceremony. They had 60 soldiers each representing from all over the country along with their family members. We felt lucky to have had the opportunity to be apart of the ceremony and stay in the hotel with Kris in DC. It was kind of like a mini vacation since we don't take advantage enough of living outside the city. Although it was a little difficult to manage sitting through long seminars... 7 months preggo... with a 3 year old; it was all worth while- Owen and I couldn't be more proud of Kris. The actual ceremony took place at the Russel building beside the Capitol Friday morning. It was a really cool once in a lifetime opportunity to wonder the halls of Senate where they do all the dirty work. On our way to lunch we even ran into Senator Joe Lieberman of Connecticut! :)

Since Kris represented Virginia/DC we were interviewed by the local TV station Chanel 9 news! Here's the link or see previous post of the interview that aired Friday night on the 7 o'clock news. This is a picture of Kris and Owen getting interviewed by more reporters :)

Belly update: I'm 25 weeks this week and baby/belly is getting really heavy and big. I've discovered standing for a long time is really hard on my feet (which only means more pedicures, cant complain there). I'm really uncomfortable at night and takes me a really long time to fall asleep; and if I do wake up in the middle of the night I stare at the walls for an hour until I get comfortable enough to fall back asleep. I am very lucky that Owens been sleeping in until 8:30am most mornings so I get to get to sleep in longer.

Like I said in my previous post we have LOTS of birthdays to celebrate in February this past weekend we celebrated Miss Hannah's 3rd birthday!!! I love watching Owen and Hannah grow up together since Ashley and I were pregnant- stuffing our faces at Chick-fil-a and IHOP with her mom. It's been a true blessing to have them in our lives, I cant wait to see all our kids grow up to be such great friends. Happy birthday Miss Hannah!!!! XOXO

February for us is filled with cake, balloons and birthdays! We were happy to celebrate the girls... Alicia's 3rd and Natalie's 4Th birthday with dinner and a fun afternoon at Chucke Cheeses last Saturday. I cant believe how much they have grown! Alicias' birthday was last Thursday and Natalies' is today!!!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY LITTLE ANGELS! We love you both. xoxo

My two favorite valentine and I enjoyed a mellow Valentines day starting off with a small breakfast, took Owen to lunch and dropped him off at the grandparents so Kris and I could go see Avatar in 3D.. finally! Its definitely worth seeing at the movie theater in 3D, now I understand why they received all those movie awards and all the hype around it.

My brother also celebrated this 23rd birthday yesterday! I cant believe he will be graduating this Spring from UNCW! I'm so proud and happy for you. Congrats and Happy birthday little bro! :)

Baby update: I'm 20 weeks on Sunday and we're so excited that my sono appointment on Monday is finally here!!!!!! We get to find out if were having a boy or girl. I cannot wait mostly because I think my nesting has begun :) Im definitely showing a lot earlier than I did when I was pregnant with Owen and feeling VERY uncomfortable.

I've also noticed a lot of pregnancy differences between my 1st and 2ND. Sleeping positions is my main issue at this point. Kris was really thoughtful and bough me a new awesome body pillow for Valentines day. But as awesome as it is- I still haven't gotten used to it. When I fall asleep on my right side I find myself waking up to a dead right arm feeling pins and needles. When I'm flat on my back I find baby kicking my belly A LOT... i think its his or her way of telling me to move and change positions. Thats also when I'm not having difficulty feeling tight around my chest/breathing normal. I remember having difficulty breathing later in my pregnancy with Owen but this early for my 2ND? Hmmm? So my stuck to one position- my left side... ugh!

I've also noticed during pregnancy #1 my love for spicy food; i love spicy food in general but I find myself getting sharp pains around my ribs and heartburn after eating anything spicy. I know spicy foods causes heartburn during pregnancies (according to my pregnancy book) but it didn't phase me during my 1st so I figured it wouldn't for this baby. I guessed wrong!

I do love all the attention I get from Owen, he has become so protective and caring for my belly. He kisses and hugs on brother or sister everyone 5 minutes and sings his ABC's to him/her every morning. I have no doubts Owen will be a good big brother to baby; I cant wait to watch him protect, fight and love on baby everyday. We'll keep you posted for our Monday appointment.. What do you think a boy or girl???

I wanted to take a moment to say Happy 33rd Birthday to my eldest sister Ate (Kristine)!!!

Just a little FYI for those who are wondering what "Ate" means. In the Philippines "Ate" is Tagalog for older sister and also titles used to address older female cousins (regardless if they are the eldest or not, but older than cousin addressing them) as a sign of respect. It may also be used for people who aren't necessarily relatives but are older. My family has a total of 5 kids me being the middle child, but Ate (Kristine) is the only one I call Ate even though Nina is older than me. I've always called her that since I was a little kid so "Ate" she will be for as long as I live. HAPPY BIRTHDAY and many many more to come!!!!

Blizzard of 2010

Here's a little preview of how much fun the boys were having in all the 20 inches of snow we got last night/day. The blizzard was unbelievable and was almost taller than Owen at most spots. Kris' brother Michael came to get snowed in with us Friday night and we... meaning Kris, Michael and Owen dug us out early Saturday morning. The boys couldn't help themselves and wanted to play in all the snow while I watched from the window. After a little break we went out again for round two that afternoon to play with the neighbors Sara and Amy.

Thank God for four wheel drive because we ventured off to the Claybornes after breakfast this morning. We really wanted to see what damages the storm made and as they said multiple times in the news... the roads are horrible! The side roads are definitely covered in a sheet of white snow, unplowed streets, and a lot of trees down. This storm has crippled our city and I don't doubt we'll have school closings Monday and Tuesday this week.. maybe even more if we get that storm coming Tuesday night. Yikes! As for my pregnancy update I'm 18 weeks today. The little baby is as big as a sweet potato. Baby's busy stretching his arms, hiccuping, rolling, twisting, kicking, punching, sucking and swallowing. Baby's finally big enough that I should start noticing movements soon. Kris and I will find out the sex of the baby at my 21 week appointment at the end of the month. We've decided to take Owen with us to experience and see the exciting news! I cant wait to see his reaction to his new baby brother or sister! :)

Winter festivites

I didn't realize that my last post was two weeks ago.. where has the time gone? We normally hibernate around this season due to Owens asthma season but I also think my pregnancy has a lot to do with it; no motivation and tired feeling all the time. But there's no excuse to be a bad blogger.

I'm just ready for winter to be over, need outdoor adventures and some sunshine back in our life. Unfortunately not anytime soon.... we're suppose to get 20 more inches of SNOW this weekend? OYE! Although it does look pretty and I love watching Owens face when he lays on the carpet making snow angels (hinting Mom, take me outside!). Well try to enjoy the rest of this winter weather ahead of us. So let me play catch up and rewind from a few weeks back....

They were my close friends from college when I was a cheerleading instructor for UCA (Universal Cheerleading Association). We had some great times together and it's always a blast to see/catch up with everyone again (which we don't do often enough). Not only was it exciting to see everyone but I'm so happy for Jocelyn because she's marrying her perfect match Dom. They met each other and have a cute story all through being intructors for UCA together. I'm so lucky to have seen your relationship grow from the beginning and excited to see what's ahead for the both of you Best wishes and Congratulations!!!!!!!!

Kris and I had our annual 299th Engineer company dinning out at Fort Belvoir. Owen had a sleepover at my parents house and we got to enjoy the rest of the night; kid free :) We love the free time together whenever we can get it especially since we're about have another little one, we're never alone and don't go out often enough. The dinner included the usual company entertainment, traditions and awards. We also enjoyed the rest of the night with friends at a local bar. I'm so lucky to have an amazing husband and be surrounded with great friends!

I was upset to find that I had accidentally deleted a few pictures (4 to be exact) I took from Owen's birthday party. I HATE that this happens everytime because through all the hard work preparing and setting up I always forget to take pictures. I really should have a designated person to do this every year. Therefore.. I do not have birthday pictures from the party... AGAIN this year. Luckily we have wonderful friends and family who captured a few from Owens special day.

We made plans to go out this year for New Years eve.. thinking ahead how different our life will be next year; two kids.. a 4 year old and 5 month old along with a possibility of husband being long distance. Kris and I were happy and excited to celebrate our 5th NYE together. We had a really good dinner at Chef Geoff's in Tyson's Corner with good friends then went out to a local bar in the area. The past year has been endless blessings for us and we are really thankful... quick recap; Vegas trip, bought our first home, Owens first of many trips to Lake Anna, becoming a stay at home mom, 2nd baby on the way and many more.We are looking forward to what 2010 has in store for us and ready to grow even more as a family!

Pregnancy Update:

I'm at 15 weeks this week and happy to be in my 2nd trimester. Yay! no more nausea and morning sickness. Baby is the size of a naval orange this week around 4 inches long. I've noticed that I'm already uncomfortable sleeping and find myself flipping around trying to get comfy at night. I definitely have gained weight and frustratingly still fitting in my jeans with the button open and zipper unzipped. I cannot wait until the weather starts cooperating with my wardrobe and I don't have to bundle up as much with long sleeves, pants and jackets. Thank goodness for yoga pants because that is what my wardrobe will consist off the rest of the winter.

Blizzard of 2009

We couldn't believe it 2 feet of SNOW!!!! Here... in Virginia... really!!! I remember the last time we had this much snow; 13 years ago the blizzard of 1996. So this was definitely a big deal around here. Although all the pretty white fluffy snow is still causing chaos everywhere, we are enjoying every minute of it and waiting patiently for Christmas to come. It has lifted our spirits even through all the traffic, full parking lots and loooong lines at the registers; we are ready for Saint Nicolas, lots of family and good food! We're also looking forward to another mile stone in Owens life. Yes, our little man is turning 3!!!!!!!!! When did he grow out of his bottles, pacifiers and start going potty all on his own!?! Time really is flying but we're happy our little boy is turning another year old. As we scramble through the next couple of days, we hope you all have a very Merry Christmas filled with love, family and happiness. XOXO

Green olive..

Baby is now the size of a green olive! Exactly what I've been craving and reaching for in the fridge (You are what you eat baby!) hahah. According to one of many pregnancy websites and books I obsessively browse through out my day; Our little embryo has now officially graduated to fetus-hood. It's physical structures are in place and it's facial features, baby is kind of starting to look like a baby! My next doctors appointment isn't for another 2 weeks but I'm hoping we'll get to hear the baby's heart beat at that time.

The nausea has gotten a lot better but I'm still tired and feel the sluggishness through out the day. I'm officially at the point where I squeeze into my jeans and struggle to button them, I'm try enjoying the gain... after all, when is it okay to put on the pounds and feel totally guilt-free? I don't have a belly yet but definitely have the baby bump (bloated look). I've also noticed the bump came sooner this time around. While my first pregnancy bump didn't show up until I was at least 17 weeks pregnant. I'm really excited to get first trimester over with and looking forward to what 2nd trimester will bring. But mostly feeling much better again!

Kris and I went to his company Christmas party for the first time this weekend. It was a hike to get to Greenbelt Maryland but it was a lot of fun. While mom and dad were party'n Owen had a sleepover at cousins Kayla and Janelle's house. Here's a few pictures of the kiddos making a ginger bread house!

We couldn't believe how much snow Northern Virgina actually accumulated on Saturday morning. It's hard to take the weatherman seriously when we wake up to rain or ice most of the time. But this past weekend we had enough to play outside and make our first snow man of the season! It really put us in the Christmas spirit seeing everything covered in snow. We also got enough pictures to make our Christmas card this year. Here's a sneak peak! :)

Last week Owen willingly took a picture with Santa for the first time without the kicking, screaming and hanging on for dear life! Owen and I had to run a couple errands at the mall and we mange zip through the polar express straight to Santa with no lines. Owen started to get the idea of Santa so he was super excited to tell Santa what he wants for Christmas. He stood and looked at him with intimidation for a minute then jumped right onto lap. He constantly reminds Kris and I that Santa only gives toys to good boys and girls :)

I talked Kris into getting our Christmas tree earlier this year and ever since I've been Christmasfying our house! One thing that bummed me out was not having a fireplace. Not only that... we have no where to hang our stockings this year!!! Don't get me wrong, I love our new house but I miss our cozy little condo especially the days we sat by the fire, snuggling with a hot chocolate in hand :) hmmm.... But most importantly I've been on a hunt all week for something to hang our stocking on. I happen to come across a wreath stand at Pier 1 and had a great idea of hanging stocking on it instead. I think it works for only $20 bucks! :)

The ribbon doesn't feel quite right but I'm waiting for hubby to get home so I can venture to Joannes without the little booger! :)

Whirlwind of November

This past couple of weeks has been a whirlwind which resulted to a neglected blog. It all started when we found out some great news. The Clayborne family of three will now be a family of 4! YES, that's right were expecting our second little peanut in July 2010!!!!!! I'm only 7 weeks so it's still in the early stages, I'm taking all the precautions to make sure this baby peanut and I are healthy! Kris, Owen and I are very excited and cannot wait to meet the new fella.

Kris was away with the Army the weekend I found out so I decided to surprise him when he came home. I made Owen a tshirt to give him a little hint that said "I'm gonna be.." in the front and "A big brother!" in the back. Owen did a great job helping and Kris loved the surprise! Due to all the camotion and excitement that weekend I missed Kris' interview that aired on CNN for Veterans day. Its an interview about a program he did through work and were so happy he was selected for the interview. We are grateful to have such hardworking and loving dad! CNN Helmets to hard hats

Before we knew it.. the Macy's Thanksgiving parade was on our TV and Me in the kitchen scattering to put a few dishes together for our lunch and dinner feasts! We have a lot to be thankful for.. too many to count and list. It's so easy to forget through all the stress and everyday bumps and bruises; that I don't thank God enough for all the blessings he gives our family and the joy he fills our lives. Kris and I have been very excited and couldn't wait for Owen to start playing sports; But we cant believe that the time has come. We joined him in an indoor soccer class at a sport center close to our house. It's once a week for an hour with organized running around, drills and games. He's doing really well and I'm glad he listens to his coach. We hope he keeps it up and grows to love sport like mommy and daddy! :)

Hello NOVEMBER, where did October go?! Halloween weekend was a great success (minus the rain) Due to the inclement weather we decided to take Owen trick or treating indoor at the mall. We then made a few visits at the Clayborne's and a couple houses in the neighborhood. I think Owen enjoyed handing out candy more than getting them. Every time someone knocked at our door he would run full speed reach in his own stash of candy and give them to the kids. SOO sweet of him! He also managed to scare a trick or treater when he came at our door finding Owen running full speed at him butt naked anxious to hand him candy. HAHAH! the kid seemed okay and the boys mom found it very funny.

After all the commotion and craziness we managed to get Owen tucked in bed just in time for our Haunted house party! Kris and I dressed up as little red riding hood and the big bad wolf this year. My menu consisted of; bleeding heart brie, mummy bogs, and devilish eyes. Swamp frog punch, bat wings, and spider cup cakes (red velvet with cream cheese icing). I'm a little bummed I didn't get a lot of pictures and all the decorations but I think we managed to make it haunted housey! Thanks everyone for coming and we had a blast!

Time has been flying by and there's no stopping. I love looking back on all of Owens baby pictures and remembering all the little things; no whining, demands and compromising. Oh! how much I wish he was still a tiny baby but my big boy is now mommy's best helper (sometimes even more than dad!) Everyday is a new adventure. He's a reminder how much the little maniac has grown!

Air&Scare and Zoo weekend!

When it's not raining outside you'll most likely find us outdoors. With winter like weather and the swine flu outbreak it's hard to decided if we should hide out or not. But we've obviously decided to tough it out and hope for the best! Cross your fingers and pray that we will have a healthy winter.

Saturday morning Owen had his first fashion show (yes he's quite the stud) at Nordstrom. He didn't quite make it all the way down the run way but he manage to show off his charm by yelling/whining I want daddyyyy, saying I don't want to AND throwing down his hat at the end. I think he did alright, at least he got a few laughs :) Thanks to my high school friend Christina for including us in this event!

We also ventured off that afternoon to Air&Scare at the Smithsonian National Air and Space museum. We arrive in costume for trick-or-treating, hands-on activities, face painting, costumed Star Wars characters and mostly treats :) Owen was a little disappointed he couldn't ride the planes but was so happy he got to see Optimus Prime!

We were excited to finally make it out to the National Zoo on Sunday. We've been planning to take Owen there for a long time and haven't gotten a chance. We also noticed that we weren't the only people who thought yesterday was a perfect zoo day because it was packed. Owen absolutely loves animals and was super excited to see them all! We did as much site seeing and had lunch at a cute little bistro on Connecticut Ave.

(Yes! Post overload just trying to catch up!) This past weekend was my cousin Karina's wedding at the Black Horse Inn. Kris had to miss the wedding and all the family festivities due to his drill schedule change and this weekend he had to stay on base... in the rain :) We're very thankful for Greg, Ethan and Ella hosting Owens first sleepover; (besides grand parents houses') he had so much fun playing with Ella he didn't want to come home. I have to admit.. it was nice not waking up to Owen running his cars on my bed and calling for breakfast or a hubby; I've forgotten what a quite Sunday morning was like :) It didn't last very long because I then hosted my family for a last minute lunch before our favorite Tita (aunt) Maribel and her hubby from Vegas flew back home. We hope to see you guys again soon!

Pumpkin Patch Galore!

(Late post) But... we took our first trip to Ticonderoga farm a couple weeks ago with my cousin Catherine and her kids Ethan and Ella (whom Owen adores). Owen and Ella plays so well together; Owen plays well in general but he LOVES Miss Ella. We had perfect weather and enjoyed the traffic free weekday deal.. no bumping into strollers and the kids got to go down the slides as much as they wanted. It definitely made a big difference! Thanks Catherine for a fun play date :)

We had a blast swimming in the lake, riding the wave runner and boating in Lake Anna. Thanks you so much John and Karen for hosting us all weekend! Owen discovered his love for jumping off the dock which was about twice his height. Kris also got a chance to knee board and show off a few tricks up his sleeve. Sorry long post.. catching up for July :) We took our annual OBX summer trip to Nags Head a couple weeks ago and enjoyed every minute of the beautiful weather. Although we went a month earlier than usual and took our first family vacation without Kris- he was happy/jealous that we got to run away to the beach while he was stuck in the army barinks out West. This will be the longest Kris has been away since his last overseas trip, were missing him and cant wait another week till he gets back! We had so much fun in Nags Head that I managed to... break my 6 month old camera, lose my brand new Ray Bans in the ocean hubby got me for my birthday and manage to burn my back which caused the giraffe like spots on my shoulders. Owen on the other hand had a blast building sand castles, digging big holes, putting his trucks in them and watching transformers 24/7. He was a little uneasy through the week with me leaving the same room or stepping out of his sight; I'm guessing it has something to do with Kris being gone because he was befriending all the bigger boys that week. He loved Trey the first half of the week- Jason, Collin and few others. I was very grateful the boys were patient with him and played transformers with the poor little boy. Thanks guys!

Owens 3 new habits:

1. Owen discovered the Brew thru while we were at the beach. Due to it being 20 feet from the beach house and our many trips to the drive threw he learned there was a lot of cool things at this store. Throughout the week we bought souvenirs, t-shirts, ice, and beverages. He just loved walking in there and talking to the nice people who were working. He even asked me one day after passing it.. " Mom, need beers?, need beers to brew thru?" Oh boy! he is REALLY learning fast.

2. His new obsession is the movie Transformers; not the cartoon but the real movie. It happened to be on while I was skimming through channels one day and he has been glued to it ever since. He suckered me into buying him at Target the main character "bubble bee" the yellow transformer that turns into both car and robot. I was surprised he remembered it at the time because he had only seen it once prior to that day; If we only knew then what we do now!

This was the beginning of my little boys fantasy of yellow cars. Every car we pass on the street is bubble bee and every time he gets a chance he asks to watch the movie. We bought the DVD to help the 4 hour drive to the beach; which was a great investment because it also became my babysitter so i can mingle. He wakes up every morning and transformers is the first word that comes out of his little mouth. He talks (by talking I mean half gibberish half real words) about scenes in the movie and knows the plot of the story. You can even hear him recites quotes while watching the movie and also calls himself Sam (Shia Labeouf) 3 times a day. Kris also bought him another character in the movie "optimise prime" aka- apple sauce before he left for his trip (It's the blue and red character and apple sauce is how Owen pronounces his name). I guess Ineed to start preparing myself for my baby's way into boy-hood! :)

3. Another thing he just learned that just kills me and melts my heart is when he know he's in trouble and mom's angry. He looks into my eyes with his big brown eyes; batting his long lashes and says... "Mom I just love you... i just love you." in his sweet little voice. Ugh! Can you believe it?? This little fella already knows how to get to me. Where he got it from? take a wild guess! He only does it to me and never to Kris.

NEED VOLUME???

I just thought I'd share my new favorite investment called Bumpits. I was sitting quietly in front of my laptop yesterday afternoon when the commercial came on. After the commercial I was so curious and googled it; I wanted to make sure it wasn't one of those things you buy and end up at the bottom of your bathroom cabinet for years. I went through and read reviews then ventured off to the as seen on TV store at the mall that afternoon. I was eager to try it last night and LOVED the results. It's definitely worth every buck. I'd say $12 dollars was put to good use! :)
